Plan by region

Bangkok, north & Isaan

November to February is generally cooler. March to May is hotter, and the southwest monsoon brings wetter conditions later in the year.

Andaman coast

Phuket, Krabi and nearby islands generally have drier conditions from November to April. Monsoon weather can disrupt beaches and boat routes.

Gulf islands

Samui, Phangan and Tao follow a different pattern. Rain often increases from October to December, so November is not a reliable dry-season choice here.

Leave room for changing conditions

  • Check local forecasts and operator updates before ferry journeys or boat trips.
  • Follow beach flags and weather warnings. Do not swim when local advice says it is unsafe.
  • Leave a buffer between island transfers and flights.
  • Check your policy’s weather-disruption conditions rather than assuming every delay or cancellation is covered.
